Apple Tree for Exhibitions

We were given the following brief: build a large artificial exhibition apple tree with artificial apples hanging on the branches that would gradually move upwards during the term of the fair. At the end of the show, the branches would have to be in an almost vertical position with the apples appearing to float above tree. This tall artificial apple tree also had to be easy to disassemble and re-assemble in order to transport it safely to different shows around the globe. It also had to be inherently flame-retardant to meet the strict fire regulations.

plantART Bespoke worked closely with Sharman Shaw Exhibitions Ltd and medex-media to create a custom-made 5 m tall fake apple tree with a synthetic fibre glass trunk, natural kiln-dried wood branches, faux foliage and artificial apples. Moving steel hinges were used to attach the branches to the artificial stem. These hinges were a bespoke, one-off design by plantART Bespoke. These hinges allowed the artificial branches to be gradually moved upwards during the course of the trade fair. In their final position, the fake branches were near vertical with the replica apples seemingly floating in mid-air.

This tree could be quickly & safely packed in crates to be transported to the next international exhibition location.
