Black Ivy - When Chris Hines of Redhouse Design was given the contract of creating a new bar and hotel interior for 'Black Ivy' in Edinburgh...

...he wanted it to feel very organic & knew that it would have to include artificial trees and foliage. Not just any kind of planting, but something really special and different. He set about creating a unique, vibrant venue, featuring luxurious leather booths and slick marble tables, one that combined contrasting neon art with vintage chandeliers, street art murals by international artist Rone and wood flooring salvaged from 19th century French train carriages!

He contacted plantART to talk through his vision and discuss the various ways in which artificial trees and plants could be used to enhance his vision, the results of which can be seen in the photographs of the completed project here.

We added artificial planting to the bar area and beautiful olive trees with led lighting, real trunks and artificial foliage between the round leather booths and reaching almost up to the tall ceilings.

To complete the relaxing yet “other worldly” experience, we included purple wisteria, trailing on the brick walls and hanging down from the ceilings.
