How to Use Artificial Exterior Plants to Make a Good Visual Impression - Part One.

Here plantART is “showing off” real applications, in real jobs and for real customers.

So, here we have four different interesting uses of artificial exterior plants specifically showing the imaginative use of artificial outdoor artificial plants in both domestic and business settings. Demonstrating the broad variety of outside artificial plants which are always readily available and here are suggestions to help provide ideas how artificial plants can be used outside.
All these display examples are intended to enhance and brighten up both domestic and business properties; simple yet effective.
The accompanying pictures show artificial boxwood hedges, artificial topiary trees, artificial window boxes and mixed artificial evergreen and flowering plants in addition to artificial Yucca and Artificial Pandanus all add to a wide complimentary, contemporary and yet contrasting range.

Artificial Boxwood Trough Inserts

Small artificial boxwood hedges have become extremely popular over the past year, with customers enquiring about their use as alternative to traditional window displays. Special interest has recently driven up demand as a result of the launch of plantART’s purpose made-to-fit artificial boxwood hedge inserts which are constructed to slot into customers own containers; very much like the example shown in the picture shown above. The most commonly requested sizes are to fit 80 and 100cm troughs; however, there is virtually no limit to the size of artificial hedges plantART can build i.e. any length, width, and height can be made to order.

Artificial Topiary Balls

Artificial topiary balls are another favourite and again something which is easy to drop into customers own containers as shown in the above picture. Artificial boxwood balls and artificial topiary balls and trees are ideal they create quick, easy and contemporary displays which will continue to look good throughout the year.

Artificial Exterior Plants - Trough Planting

When variety, colour and something traditional looking is needed then it is best to use those artificial exterior plants which resemble the fresh ones people use and are familiar with. An example of traditional evergreen and flowering plants are shown in the pictures shown below.

Installing Artificial Trough Planters

Artificial Ivy, Artificial Ferns and Artificial Panadanus

By examining the “close up detail” of these artificial plants it is easy to see just how true to life these plants really look. Trough displays are generally made as standard in 80 and 100cm troughs, although any length or combination of lengths can be made to order.

                                Artificial Ferns                                                           Artificial Pansy Plants

Although the planning troughs shown in the above example demonstrates high level canopy displays; other frequent uses are for windows, on flat roofs, fixed to balcony and terrace balustrades.

Town Centre Pub, Huddersfield - Terrace Garden

Large displays using outdoor artificial plants are also becoming a very popular, practical and an extremely cost effective solution for adding character, creating interest and producing a welcoming appeal to many terraces, gardens and balconies. This is particularly important for businesses operating cafes and restaurants where venues need to be attractive, easy and inexpensive to maintain.

The “before” installation picture shows dilapidated fresh plants which when originally installed probably looked very nice; however, after time owing to harsh weather conditions, lack of maintenance, poor choice of plants and tampering their effectiveness has since declined.

Pictures before installing the improved planting scheme

And the “after” installation pictures shown below, demonstrates how a simple make over can be achieved using artificial outdoor plants. The planters are top dressed which decorative stones which in turn are set into GRP resin thereby forming a solid and water tight seal.

Artificial Yucca                                     Artificial Topiary & Artificial Red Pandanus
Artificial Contemporary Exterior Plants

A water tight seal prevents customers and staff pouring unwanted/unfinished drinks into the planters. This action leading to a build up of perishable fluids results in very unsocial pungent smells. Incidentally this action is also contributes to the slow death of fresh plants.
Plants used in these displays are artificial topiary, Yuccas and red Pandanus.
